Regularly Scheduled Maintenance

Went and saw Dr. Boris this morning, got a prescription refill on my asthma medication. Had a nice visit. He was tickled pink about a relatively mint condition Commordore 64 that I picked up for him. Boris is a total computer, data guy, and completely understands if not even empathises with my data fixation.

Weight - 186 - Boris thinks 176 is doable and safe by the first week of October. I am going to schedule another body fat test in late September, but I think I must be around 14%. I have definitely last some upper body mass, but not too drastically. I can still easily do three sets of 50 push-ups and I can still bench press my body weight a half dozen times.

Blood Pressure - 106/68 - In a word, "perfect".

Resting heart rate - 48 - Excellent.

Morning basal heart rate - 38 - Doesn't get much better.

Boris concurs with my theory about the across the board improvement in my lowered heart rate and blood pressure as being due to the fact that there is significantly less Vince for my ole heart to pump and push blood through. An added running benefit will be an increased ability to deliver oxygen to my muscles and an enhanced ability to get rid of waste products. I think of this as the "Leaness Bonus".

Felt a little stiff after the Tuesday 8K yesterday and still this morning. Also, felt a little stiff from my gym session. Will heed Scooter's words of caution about recovery. I added a little extra protein to my diet today, about 60 grams of salmon. I figure with hills coming up tonight I may need a little help swimming upstream...
